International Rally New York – Here we go!
UPDATE: Check out the comments – we have internet access and have been posting.
Arrived safe – took me 2 hours to get a friggen APRS packet out of Jersey.
Hopefully cleared up any issues for the weekend.
Late start – and it’s sleeting out
– we’ll be on our way in a bit…
Glad to hear you are there and wanted to wish you LUCK – Not much SLEET/Snow in West Coast races I’ll bet.
Just checked out your site – very cool.

Okay – Recce’ is done. Ze’Neon in in the warm Parc Ferme’. We have to take an extra spare out and get the video camera in. The APRS coverage is weak – so I’ll stop mentioning it.
Recce’ was interesting. Very tight schedule, some of tomorrows stages are going to be pretty rough. There was snow on the faster stages!
Gotta get up at 6:45AM – More tomorrow night.
Good luck Kris & Christine. Have not seen any results yet…..I guess they don’t have a Mike Gibault there!

With about half of the first day of competition
completed, the leaders of the 2WD Production
class in International Rally New York are staging
an exciting duel. After four special stages,
Hampton Bridwell/Josh Katinger (Ford Focus)
is leading with a score of 18:44, while Kristopher
and Christine Marciniak (Dodge Neon)
are only two seconds back. (They are
placed tenth and eleventh overall in the rally.)
The winner of this contest is likely to win the
class in the 2008 U.S. Rally Championship.

Hampton went sideways and got stuck on SS5 losing 2 minutes –
That forced him to push hard on the rough stages later in the day. He made up some time, but I’m not sure how much. I know we got faster even after the sun set – and they don’t have scores for 11 & 12 right now…
We’re having a blast! We’ll have a some fast stages in the morning and we’ll be pushing to bring this one home.
