Long weekend complete change of plans…

This is the passenger side engine mount bolt. It has been sheared and the engine is now resting on the skid plate. 🙁 We have some work to do before Rally Idaho. – Kris

  1. I’ve had that happen due to it backing out and losing clamping force against the sheetmetal. Next time use plenty of red loctite and you’re good to go…

Interesting. 1.5″ of that bolt (all the way in tight) was still in the mount. I think I even used a little anti-seize on this one… Red Loctite would have made replacement after shearing about 100x harder. This may be one of those times where – If it’s a street car: You never want it to back out and you never want to check it. Where as a rally car: You may need to get that bolt out and you should be inspecting the car often. Plus your street car should never see the front impact stress that you get on a rally. 🙂
